Crossover Heart: A Taiwanese Shop Reimagines the Scooter

Fusing a Yamaha Cygnus chassis with an NMAX 155 YECVT engine, YOGOAIMA MOTOSHOP built a one-off machine to showcase their deep engineering and integration skills.

In the world of scooter tuning, simply adding bolt-on parts can only take you so far. For a true statement of capability, you have to break the mold. That’s exactly what YOGOAIMA MOTOSHOP of Taipei has done. This isn’t just a modified 7th-generation Yamaha Cygnus; it’s a complete reimagining. By tearing down both a Cygnus and a Yamaha NMAX 155, the shop embarked on a project to create a seamless hybrid, transferring the heart of one machine into the body of another in a stunning display of technical integration.

Chapter 01

The YECVT Heart Transplant

The core of this ambitious project is the complete transplantation of a Yamaha NMAX 155 engine, equipped with YECVT (Yamaha Electric CVT), into the Cygnus frame. This was no simple swap. It was a ground-up re-engineering effort that required a deep understanding of both platforms. To manage the new powerplant, an ARACER SUPERXX ECU was integrated, but not just for fuel mapping. YOGOAIMA skillfully programmed it to allow for a manual six-speed shifting mode, giving the rider direct control over the otherwise automatic CVT system—a feature that fundamentally changes the riding experience and showcases an incredible level of electronic and mechanical integration.

"This wasn't a kit assembly, but a rebirth project that involved dismantling two vehicles and rethinking everything from structure to the actual riding experience."

Chapter 02

A Re-Engineered Chassis

Accommodating the NMAX engine required a complete rethink of the scooter’s chassis and ergonomics. The team developed an aggressive, "exaggerated rear-set" riding position that stretches the bike’s proportions and points to a much more focused, extreme riding purpose than the original commuter-friendly design. A key component in this transformation is the pre-production, one-piece CNC-milled swingarm and transmission cover assembly. Developed in partnership with the shop, this part is a testament to YOGOAIMA’s ability to not just install parts, but to actively participate in the research and development of new, high-performance components.

Chapter 03

Hand-Crafted Form

While the finished machine will wear a distinct red and silver paint scheme, the build in its current state lays the engineering bare. Every bracket and wire is on display, celebrating the complexity of the swap. The aggressive stance is complemented by custom, hand-made aerodynamic elements. Rather than fitting off-the-shelf plastics, the team fabricated unique pieces designed specifically for this new structure, ensuring the final visual identity is as unique as the engineering beneath it. The result is a machine with a pure, track-focused aesthetic that clearly communicates its performance intent.
