SAKURA & BOOST: A DRG BT WITH A TURBOCHARGED HEART

From Taiwan comes a DRG BT scooter that brilliantly merges extreme forced-induction performance with a striking, cherry-blossom inspired visual theme.

DRG · BT

In the world of custom scooters, there are builds that follow a formula, and then there are builds that rewrite the rulebook entirely. This DRG BT, hailing from Taiwan’s vibrant tuning scene, falls decisively into the latter category. It’s a project defined by contrasts: a tiny turbocharger feeding a heavily modified engine, an aggressive, stretched stance, and a delicate black-and-pink sakura livery. It’s a machine built not just for show, but for shocking performance, challenging the very perception of what a scooter can be.

Chapter 01

The Heart of the Matter: A Turbocharged Transplant

The foundation of this build’s radical performance is an ambitious engine swap. The stock motor was removed in favor of a B8R-series engine, which was then subjected to a host of serious upgrades. The powerplant features a 76mm big-bore cylinder and a long-stroke crankshaft, significantly increasing displacement and fundamentally altering its character. The centerpiece, however, is the custom turbocharger system, compactly plumbed in to provide a massive boost in power. Keeping this complex and potent combination in check is an aRacer Super X ECU, a critical component that orchestrates the fuel and ignition timing for the forced-induction setup. The spent gases exit through a beautifully crafted Over Racing exhaust system, adding a distinct bark to the bike’s bite.

"This is a machine built around the thrilling, uncompromising punch of a turbocharger, wrapped in an unexpectedly beautiful package."

Chapter 02

A Chassis to Tame the Power

Simply adding power without addressing the chassis would be a recipe for disaster. To that end, the scooter's handling has been comprehensively upgraded. The front end is now managed by a set of stout MSP UF2 inverted forks, a significant step up from the standard telescopic units. These are paired with G-pro forged wheels, chosen for their high strength and low unsprung weight. Notably, the front has been converted to a dual-disc brake setup clamped by Brembo calipers, all actuated by a Brembo RCS master cylinder for precise control. At the rear, an X2 HL shock manages the load, while the swingarm has been extended by a full 10cm, creating a longer wheelbase for improved stability under hard acceleration and giving the scooter its aggressive, purposeful stance.

Chapter 03

Aggression Meets Artistry

Visually, the build hinges on the philosophy of 'visual tension.' The brutalist modifications are wrapped in a surprisingly delicate aesthetic. The bodywork is finished in a mix of textured black and gloss panels, overlaid with pink-and-white cherry blossom (sakura) graphics that flow across the machine. This softens the otherwise menacing posture, created by the extended chassis and the aggressive riding position from the 'Evil Handmade' clip-on handlebars. It's a striking juxtaposition that makes the scooter as much a piece of kinetic art as it is a high-performance machine. The choice of mismatched G-pro wheels—gold in the front, polished chrome in the rear—adds another layer of custom personality.

This turbocharged DRG BT is a testament to the creativity and engineering skill flourishing in Taiwan’s scooter scene. It disregards convention to create something truly unique, a build that is as impressive standing still as it must be under full boost. It’s a cohesive and intensely focused machine that perfectly balances raw power with a bold visual identity.
